At our school, we want every student to be placed in the right course to help them succeed. To do this, each core class (like English, Math, Science, etc.) is broken into sections labeled A, B, C, D, and E. The section a student is assigned to will depend on their individual needs, which helps ensure they get the right level of support and challenge. Here’s how it works:
Section A: This section is for students who are ready for advanced learning and a faster pace. Students in Section A may be given more challenging assignments and are expected to work more independently.
Section B: This is the standard section for students who are ready to work at a typical pace for their grade level. Most students will be assigned to Section B.
Section C: Students with a 504 Plan are placed in Section C. This section provides additional support and accommodations to help students with specific learning needs, ensuring they have the best chance for success. These students will receive individualized strategies to support their learning.
Section D: Students with an IEP (Individualized Education Program) are placed in Section D. This section is specifically designed for students who need more intensive support. Teachers and staff will work closely with these students, providing tailored instruction based on their individual goals and needs.
Section E: This section is a flexible option for students who may need special scheduling arrangements, such as taking courses at different times of the day or adjusting the pace of their learning. Section E ensures that students with unique circumstances or needs can still succeed in their coursework.
For example, if a student is enrolled in English 9, they will be placed in one of the following sections:
English 9A: This class may meet during the first and eighth hours of the school day for students needing a more advanced challenge.
English 9B: This class might meet during the second or seventh hour for students working at a grade-level pace.
English 9C: This section would be assigned to a student with a 504 Plan, and it might meet at a specific time to accommodate the student’s support needs.
English 9D: This section would be for a student with an IEP and would be tailored to their individual learning plan and goals.
This system helps our school provide the most appropriate education for each student. By assigning students to sections based on their individual needs, we make sure:
Advanced students are challenged.
Students needing extra help get the support they need.
Students with IEPs and 504 plans are provided with accommodations to ensure they have the best possible chance for success.
All students can move at their own pace and receive the appropriate level of instruction.
We believe that this system ensures every student is given the attention and opportunities they need to excel academically, whether they need more challenge or more support. If you have any questions about which section your child is placed in, or if you need more information about the accommodations for students with IEPs or 504 plans, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
